BENIN CITY – The Idia College Old Girls Association (ICOGA), North America Chapter, has donated 2,500 school bags and 5,000 notebooks to its alma mater in Benin City as part of efforts to uplift students and celebrate educational legacy.
President of ICOGA, North America, Dr. Stella Igbinedion, who presented the items on behalf of the group, said the gesture was part of its 2025 project and a responsibility to give back to the institution that shaped them.
She also donated 100 laptop bags and board markers to teachers, describing education as the bedrock of Idia College.
She told the students that giving back was not just generosity but a duty, assuring them that the association would continue to support the school to remain a centre of excellence.
Dr. Igbinedion urged the students to carry the donations with pride and confidence, believing in their capacity to build on the legacy of greatness.
Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mrs. Mercy Isibor, commended ICOGA for the initiative.
He described the gesture as the best gift to inspire students, adding that it would instill confidence and motivate them to excel.
He urged the students to emulate the example of the alumni by working hard and rededicating themselves to their studies.
The Principal of Idia College, Mrs. Joan Ehimwenma Dimuna, lauded the old girls for their generosity, recalling previous contributions and affirming that their interventions had made lasting impact on the school.
