… Receives Peace Ambassador Award

BY BERNADETTE IDALU

BENIN CITY: Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has expressed optimism that the state will surpass the expectations of its citizens before the end of the current administration’s tenure.

Idahosa disclosed this in Benin City during his investiture as Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA)

“We pray, by the grace of God, Edo State will surpass the expectations of the people when we are through with our tenure,” Idahosa declared.

He thanked the group for finding him worthy of the honour and dedicated the award to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s peace-driven administration.

Idahosa commended the President of IAWPA, Amb. Per Stafsen, and the South-South Coordinator/Edo State Director, Amb. Amos Areloegbe, for their role in promoting global peace, noting that his recognition aligns with the administration’s commitment to harmony and security.

“Peace is extremely important in any society. In a society where there is peace, it shows there is security,” he said, adding that Governor Okpebholo has made security the top priority in the administration’s five-point SHINE Agenda.

According to him, the government’s partnership with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and civil society groups underscores its resolve to sustain peace and stability across Edo State.

In his remarks, Amb. Amos Areloegbe said the Peace Advocates, who are United Nations certified and committed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), were in Edo State to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence on October 2.

He explained that the decision to host the event in Edo was influenced by the peaceful atmosphere that currently prevails in the state.
