BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has praised teachers across the state for their dedication, resilience, and sacrifices in shaping the minds of future leaders, as the world marked World Teachers’ Day on Sunday.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, the Governor described teachers as nation builders and the foundation of Edo’s human capital development.
He noted that their tireless efforts in classrooms and communities continue to drive the progress of the state’s education system.
“Teachers are more than just instructors; they are mentors and the architects of our collective future,” the statement read.
“Our administration recognizes that no education reform can succeed without their active participation, professional development, and welfare.”
Governor Okpebholo reiterated his commitment to improving the teaching and learning environment through the provision of modern teaching aids, continuous capacity building, and timely payment of salaries and allowances.
He assured that teachers’ retirement benefits and general welfare would remain top priorities for his administration.
He also reaffirmed his government’s readiness to sustain and expand reforms under the EdoSTAR Teaching Programme, aimed at strengthening public education and motivating teachers for better performance.
“The Edo State Government values your sacrifice, commitment, and service to humanity,” the Governor stated, while wishing all teachers a happy and fulfilling celebration.
