BENIN CITY — The elders and people of Okuoromi community in Oredo Local Government Area have expressed deep appreciation to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, for restoring peace and unity in the community through his pronouncement reaffirming the Odionwere as the administrative head.

The Oba, during a royal audience at his palace on Thursday, October 2, 2025, clarified that Pa Oghagbon Edosomwan remains the recognized Odionwere and that all administrative matters in the community should pass through him on behalf of the palace.

Speaking after an enlarged community meeting at his residence, Pa Edosomwan thanked the Oba for his recognition and trust, pledging unwavering loyalty to the Benin throne. 

He described the royal pronouncement as a divine intervention that has ended confusion and reaffirmed traditional order in Okuoromi.

The Okaighele of the community, Hon. Oduwa Igbinosun, also lauded the Oba for his fatherly wisdom, noting that the decision has restored confidence and stability among residents. 

He called on security agencies and members of the public to respect the royal directive and channel all administrative dealings through the Odionwere.

Similarly, the women’s leader, Madam Janet Igbinovia, who spoke on behalf of the women, thanked the Monarch for restoring peace and order, saying the entire community is now united under the authority of the palace.

She added that the Oba’s pronouncement has reinforced the people’s faith in the Benin traditional institution as a custodian of justice and peace.
