The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has approved a slight adjustment to its 2025/2026 Academic Calendar, rescheduling the Matriculation and Orientation Programmes for newly admitted students.

The decision followed a Management meeting held on December 15, 2025, during which it was noted that the academic session commenced on November 10, 2025, with the online clearance and registration of newly admitted students. Lectures, the University said, have since begun across faculties and departments in line with the approved timetable.

UNIBEN Management observed that a significant number of fresh students were yet to complete the clearance process due to various challenges, which are currently being addressed. In view of this development, the University considered it necessary to adjust the dates earlier fixed for the Matriculation and Orientation Programmes.

Approving the adjustment on behalf of Senate, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, said the revision was also informed by the festive activities and public holidays towards the end of the year.

Under the revised arrangement, the Orientation Programme will now hold on Monday, January 26, 2026, while the Matriculation Ceremony has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

The University has advised Deans, Directors, staff, students, parents and other stakeholders to take note of the new dates and ensure strict compliance.
