IBADAN: The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has intercepted 45 bags of live cartridges and other contraband goods, arresting six suspects.
The Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Adewole, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists on the command’s January operations.
He said other seized items included 2,234 bags of rice, 1,112 used tyres, 562 kegs of petrol, used clothes, pharmaceuticals, narcotics, foreign spaghetti and five used vehicles.
Adewole said the seizures, with a cumulative Duty Paid Value of N2.7 billion, were made within one month of his assumption of office through intelligence-led operations.
He added that the command exceeded its 2025 revenue target of N86.2 billion, recording a surplus of N13.1 billion, representing a 15.22 per cent increase.
The intercepted cartridges were handed over to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, which commended Customs for its collaboration in strengthening national security.
