BENIN CITY: Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has taken steps to strengthen youth engagement in the state with the appointment of Hon. Christopher Uhuekpeman Udobor Iyase as Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation.
Iyase resumed office at the Government House, Benin City, last Friday, accompanied by youths from across the state and led in prayers by Rev. Frank Omobude, Chairman of the Edo State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Speaking to journalists, Iyase emphasised inclusiveness, grassroots engagement, and collective participation in advancing the governor’s SHINE agenda.
He said the new approach would go beyond elitist structures to involve “organic youths” at the local government, ward, and unit levels.
“This is not the era of ‘I alone’. We will work together to ensure the SHINE agenda is accomplished by the youths,” Iyase said.
The appointment follows the removal of former Special Adviser Collins Aigbogun, in connection with a violent incident in Ekpoma. Governor Okpebholo’s action underscores his administration’s commitment to peace, unity, and responsible youth leadership.
