JOS: The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has called on the Federal Government to end the rising wave of attacks, killings and kidnappings across the country.
The President of ECWA, Rev. Job Ayuba, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Jos, decrying the persistent targeting of ECWA members and Christian communities. He urged the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering and early-warning responses.
Ayuba specifically condemned the attack and abduction of worshippers on Sunday, January 18, in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“ECWA is deeply concerned over the worsening and pervasive insecurity in Nigeria. We particularly condemn the persistent and targeted attacks against Christian communities, clergy and the general populace,” he said.
According to him, ECWA has suffered significant losses, with pastors, church workers and members experiencing violent attacks, kidnappings, displacement and loss of lives in several states.
He reminded all tiers of government of their constitutional responsibility to protect citizens, calling for swift prosecution of perpetrators and their sponsors, as well as adequat protection for places of worship and other soft targets.
While commending security agencies for deploying personnel to Kajuru, Ayuba stressed the need for proactive, sustained and intelligence-driven preventive operations, especially in vulnerable rural communities.
