OSOGBO: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed the INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) to communities across Osun State for the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Mutiu Agboke, disclosed this on Monday at an extended stakeholders’ meeting on the second phase of the CVR in Osogbo.
Agboke said the exercise, which commenced on January 5, is scheduled to run until April 17.
According to him, the second phase of the CVR comes with a 50-day rotational deployment of IVEDs to scattered communities in each local government area, subject to stakeholders’ endorsement.
He said the initiative would deepen grassroots participation by bringing voter registration closer to eligible citizens, particularly those in remote and underserved areas.
The REC noted that the deployment would enhance accessibility, reduce transportation costs for prospective registrants and decongest registration centres, thereby improving efficiency and service delivery.
Agboke added that anchoring the process on stakeholders’ endorsement at the local government level had strengthened transparency, local ownership and collective responsibility for the success of the exercise.
He stressed that the CVR exercise remained free of charge and urged members of the public to report any form of extortion or misconduct through established INEC channels.
Agboke reminded political parties and their supporters that voter registration was a civic duty, not a partisan contest, and called for peace before, during and after the exercise.
