GOMBE: The Gombe State Police Command says it neutralised three bandits during a gun battle and rescued two abducted persons in Lambo village, Akko Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He said the bandits had earlier attacked Rahama Village, killing a 70-year-old man, Tela Ahmadu, and abducting his two sons before proceeding to Lambo Village, where three other persons were kidnapped.

Police Tactical Teams under Operation Hattara, working with hunters and vigilante groups, engaged the suspects in a gun duel.
One of the abducted victims, 20-year-old Baayo Bayi, was killed in the crossfire, while two others were rescued. Three bandits were neutralised, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The police recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, four motorcycles and the bodies of the slain bandits. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and arrest the fleeing suspects.
