The Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured members and stakeholders that it will conduct a successful and peaceful congress on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The State Chairman of the party, Jarrett Tenebe, gave the assurance while speaking to journalists upon his arrival at Benin Airport from an official assignment in Abuja.
Tenebe stated that the party leadership is fully focused on the forthcoming congress, noting that internal consultations are already at an advanced stage.
He said, “The caucus meeting of the APC is ongoing. We are in conclave and by Tuesday all will be decided, with the white smoke out,”
Responding to allegations that the APC in Edo State was promoting violence and attacking members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Tenebe dismissed the claims, saying he was not aware of the existence of other political parties in the state.
He attributed the dominance of the APC to what he described as the impressive performance of Governor Monday Okpebholo within the past year.
He said, “The state is speaking with one voice because of the developmental strides of Governor Monday Okpebholo. It is difficult for us to know if there is another party besides APC in the state, as all other political parties have collapsed into the APC,”
According to him, the governor’s performance has attracted widespread support across the state, strengthening the party’s base.
He added, “Following the performance of Governor Okpebholo, the whole state has chosen to come to one party, the APC. There are no other political parties in the state,”
Speaking further on the forthcoming congress, Tenebe maintained that the party remains united and prepared for the exercise.
He remarked, “I will be the substantive chairman or I will not be by Tuesday. I don’t know whether there are opposition parties or ADC in the state,”
The APC chairman called on all accredited delegates to attend the congress venue on Tuesday, describing the day as one of celebration for party faithful.
He advised non-delegates to remain in their respective wards and local government areas while supporting the process peacefully.
Tenebe expressed confidence that the congress would further consolidate the party’s strength and unity across Edo State.
