MAKURDI: Former Governor of Benue State and ex-Senator, Gabriel Suswam, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), hours after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Suswam, a founding member of the PDP, cited prolonged internal crises as the reason for his exit after 27 years in the party.
In his resignation letter, he lamented unresolved leadership, structural and ideological disputes which, he said, had eroded the party’s cohesion.
He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it afforded him, including serving as a member of the House of Representatives, governor of Benue State and senator representing Benue North-East.
After receiving his APC membership card at Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area, Suswam urged his supporters to register immediately with the party.
He also called on Benue residents to support Governor Hyacinth Alia to enable him deliver on his mandate.
The APC Organising Secretary in Benue State, Mr James Ornguga, presented the membership card on behalf of the state party chairman, noting that a formal reception would be held later.
