AWKA: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have strengthened their collaboration to combat drug abuse in Anambra State.

The partnership, announced following a courtesy visit by the new DSS State Director, Mr Chuks Anukposi, to NDLEA Commander Mr Charles Onubogu in Awka on Wednesday, will focus on intelligence sharing to enhance security across the state.

Anukposi said the engagement was aimed at deepening inter-agency cooperation, stressing that many criminal activities, including banditry, armed robbery, and kidnapping ‘re often linked to drug abuse.

“No single agency can tackle these challenges alone. Sustained collaboration is essential,” he said.

Onubogu praised the initiative, noting the critical role DSS plays in providing actionable intelligence, which has significantly supported NDLEA operations.

He expressed optimism that the partnership would produce stronger results in the fight against drug-related crimes.
