LAGOS/ABUJA: The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday received newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Mr Tunji Disu, in Abuja, underscoring a commitment to enhanced maritime security.

Oyetola congratulated Disu, describing him as well-equipped to strengthen the country’s security architecture.

He highlighted the importance of inter-agency synergy for securing Nigeria’s waters, which he said are critical for economic diversification and job creation.

Disu pledged full cooperation, promising intelligence-led policing and coordinated operations across coastal and inland waterways.

Both leaders agreed on sustained dialogue and operational collaboration to improve surveillance, response capacity, and inter-agency information sharing.

“The maritime sector holds enormous promise, and safety and order must be guaranteed through seamless cooperation among relevant agencies,” Oyetola said.
