Benin City hosted the Project Leadership Summit (PLS) 2026 on March 19, bringing together professionals, aspiring project managers, and industry leaders to promote sustainable development through improved leadership and project management practices.
The summit, themed “Beyond Delivery: Creating Sustainable Impact Through Projects,” attracted participants from across the South-South region, including Ekpoma, Rivers, and Delta State.
The Convener, Philip Neil Gideon said the initiative was designed to address gaps in the region’s project ecosystem by ensuring projects deliver long-term value beyond completion.
Held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, the event featured presentations by industry experts such as Engr. Osayamen Airhumwunde, Isimeme Whyte, and Tinah Balewa, who shared practical insights on sustainability and strategic execution.
The Speakers emphasized the need for purpose-driven projects, community collaboration, and the adoption of adaptable methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall. Participants were also urged to integrate data-driven decision-making, environmental and social considerations, and continuous evaluation into project planning.
A highlight of the summit was the launch of the Global Project Managers Network (GPMN), alongside interactive sessions that encouraged networking and knowledge sharing.
The summit underscored a shift in project management focus—from mere delivery to achieving lasting impact and value.
