ABUJA – An Abuja High Court has granted permission for notices of committal proceedings to be served on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following a demolition exercise allegedly carried out in defiance of a court order.
Justice Hamza Mu’azu authorised Mykas Grid Ventures Limited to serve Forms 48 and 49 on the minister via publication in two newspapers circulating within the Federal Capital Territory.
The court also approved substituted service of the writ of summons and related documents on the second defendant, Italia Company Ltd, through newspapers in Lagos and Abuja.
The order, certified as true on Tuesday, comes after Mykas Grid filed an ex-parte motion seeking to restrain the defendants from forcefully taking possession of Plot No. A06/4583, Maitama District, Abuja, pending the hearing of the matter.
A previous order from February 10 had directed parties to maintain the status quo.
Despite this, officers of the FCDA, accompanied by security personnel, allegedly demolished the site’s fence and security house on February 24 on the minister’s instruction.
The court has adjourned the matter to March 9 for further hearing.
