… Insurance FC to begin campaign at Quarter finals stage

The Edo State Football Association (EFA) has scheduled the 2026 Edo FA Cup tournament to kickoff on March 31 with twenty-five (25) football clubs vieing for honours in the process.

Preceding the kickoff was the draws ceremony which held yesterday at the Media Center of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin. A total of 21 teams will be competing in the men’s category and and 4 teams in the women’s category including the female defending champions Edo Queens.

At the draws ceremony witnessed by the Permanent Secretary,Edo State Sports Commission Mrs Patricia Efe-Amenze who also represented the Executive Chairman Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele,Mrs Sabina Chikere, Executive Director Sports Development and Operations in the State Sports Commission,Coach Baldwin Bazuaye MON and Hon Commissioner for Youth Development Charity Amayaevbo among other football and sports stakeholders saw the defending champions Bendel Insurance FC put on bye to begin their campaign at the quarter finals stage while the Runners Up of last edition, Assemblies of God FC are also on bye to the Second Round of the tournament.

In the Preliminary Round Fixtures,Delight FC are paired against Moren Grace FC as curtain raisers in what promises to be an interesting three weeks of football activities where the state’s representatives will emerge for the 2026 President Federation Cup.

Other fixtures include Shops FC vs Okuta FC,St Andrews FC vs Victoria FC, Worshipers FC vs Namo FC,Royal Force FC vs Alhaji FC and
Ine Stars FC vs Ancient FC

Clubs on bye to the Second Round of the tournament are Dynamo Academica Football Club, BJ Foundation Football Club, Bendel Insurance Feeders, Benin Warriors Football Club, Rolly Football Club, West Gate Football Club and Living Voice Football Club.
In the Women’s category, defending champions, Edo Queens also gets a bye to the final and waiting to play against the winners between Fortress Ladies and Spunky Blazers Football Club.
