ABAKALIKI — Police in Ebonyi State have confirmed the abduction of Mr Francis Igwe, father of former Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in the state, SP Joshua Ukandu, said the victim was kidnapped on Sunday morning while on his way to church in Ndufu-Alike community, Ikwo Local Government Area.
“Our men have been mobilised to the area for investigation and rescue. It is very unfortunate,” Ukandu said.
Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Mr Sunday Nwankwo, also confirmed the incident, stating that the council was working closely with security agencies to secure the victim’s release.
