ENUGU: Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Enugu State, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, has been elected as the new State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chukwunweike’s emergence came through affirmation by delegates from the state’s 17 Local Government Areas at the party’s State Congress held Tuesday at Okpara Square, Enugu.

Other elected officials include Peace Nnaji as Deputy Chairman, Nnamdi Nwafor as Vice Chairman (Enugu East), Fabian Onah as Vice Chairman (Enugu North), and Esther Edeh as Woman Leader.

Governor Peter Mbah congratulated the new executive, describing the congress as a model of internal democracy and unity.
He urged the party to communicate government achievements to citizens and credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for stabilising the naira and strengthening the economy.

Outgoing Caretaker Committee Chairman Dr Ben Nwoye said the congress concluded a reconciliation process that united previously divided party factions, including new members and PDP defectors.

APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emmanuel Eneukwu, called on the new executives to focus on grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his acceptance speech, Chukwunweike pledged loyalty to the party and governor, promising to strengthen party structures and consolidate unity for electoral success.
