BENIN CITY – The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, has been honoured with the “Exceptional Medical Administrator of the Year” award in recognition of her contributions to healthcare administration.
The award was presented during the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development at the Government House, Benin City.
Presenting the award, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Eugenia Abdallah, described Prof. Ize-Iyamu as an accomplished professional and a role model whose achievements continue to inspire young girls and women across Edo State.
She praised the UBTH chief for her outstanding leadership, dedication and remarkable contributions to effective healthcare administration.
According to the commissioner, Prof. Ize-Iyamu’s commitment to excellence, innovation and quality service has significantly strengthened healthcare delivery and improved the lives of many people.
“In recognition of your outstanding leadership, dedication and exceptional contributions to effective healthcare administration, your commitment to excellence, innovation and quality service has significantly strengthened healthcare delivery and improved the lives of many. Your professionalism and vision continue to set a remarkable standard in medical administration,” Abdallah stated.
The 2026 International Women’s Day celebration was held under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls.”
