Registration is still ongoing for the 11th edition of the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race, according to Race Director Zack Amodu.
Amodu disclosed that the registration portal opened in early March and has already received an impressive response.
’Registration is still open to athletes and non-athletes who wish to participate in our historic race scheduled to hold on May 23, 2026 in Okpekpe in Edo State,’ he said.
He explained that intending runners can register either online or physically.
’For those who want to register online, they should visit the race’s website, www.okpekperoadrace.com, while those intending to register physically can either download the registration form on our website or go to Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo state to pick up one.
The form in PDF format can be scanned and submitted online via [email protected],’ Amodu added.
All participants must agree to World Athletics rules and regulations governing road races.
’The official entry form must be completed fully by each intending participant. Completion of the entry form represents acceptance of the terms and conditions for participating in the historic race,’ Amodu emphasized.
He noted that the race is not only for professional athletes competing for prize money but also for those running for fun, fitness, or charity.
The Okpekpe International 10km Road Race holds the distinction of being the first world-class road running event in Nigeria and West Africa, and the first to be granted a gold label status by World Athletics.
After last year’s cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, organizers say the 2026 edition will return ‘stronger, better and in a more glamorous manner
