BENIN CITY – The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has intensified preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise, urging intending pilgrims to strictly adhere to all guidelines to ensure a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage.
This was contained in a statement issued in Benin City by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, who stressed the need for discipline, cooperation and full compliance with established regulations.
According to the statement, the Board is collaborating with relevant authorities to put in place the necessary logistics for the successful airlift and welfare of pilgrims from Edo State.
It also conveyed the position of the Chairman of the Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, who urged intending pilgrims to view the exercise as both a spiritual obligation and a responsibility to uphold the image of the state.
Mallam Uduimoh advised pilgrims to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and comply with all travel and security requirements, noting that such cooperation would ensure a seamless Hajj operation.
He emphasised the importance of adhering to guidelines on luggage and safety, warning that certain prohibited items must not be taken along for the pilgrimage.
Failure to comply, he said, could attract sanctions from aviation and security authorities.
The Chairman further urged intending pilgrims to participate actively in forthcoming orientation programmes organised by the Board to educate them on the rites of Hajj and expected conduct throughout the exercise.
The Board also called on pilgrims to be worthy ambassadors of Edo State and Nigeria by demonstrating patience, humility and respect for the laws of the host country.
While wishing all intending pilgrims a successful and spiritually rewarding Hajj, the Board urged them to pray for peace, unity and progress in Edo State and the nation
