The Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Commodore Shehu Tasiu has urged Naval officers and ratings in the Niger Delta region to sustain their commitment to national service and strengthen support for host communities.

Commodore Tasiu gave the charge during an Easter gathering with personnel and media executives.

He described Easter as a season of sacrifice, love and forgiveness, noting that these values align with the duties of naval personnel.

“Our duty demands sacrifice for the nation, the Navy and one another,” he said.

Tasiu noted that personnel play a vital role in safeguarding economic activities in the region, stressing the need for dedication and selflessness.

He commended host communities for their cooperation in tackling insecurity and curbing vandalism, and called for sustained support.

The commander also reaffirmed the Navy’s resolve to combat crude oil theft and other maritime crimes, while strengthening collaboration with security partners.

He urged residents to continue providing timely information to protect critical national assets.

“We appreciate the support of our host communities and urge them to sustain it as we remain committed to their safety and well-being,” he added.
