Governor Monday Okpebholo has since hit the ground running. From the day he was sworn in, he started to walk the talk.
The dilipidated Benin – Sapele Road has been fixed by the Okpebholo-led administration. There’s now a free flow of vehicular movements in the location. Users of the Road are full of praises for Mr Governor.
Against Book Makers’ expectations, he started unprecedented massive constructions of two Flyover in the ancient City of Benin. The aim is to upgrade the state capital infrastructure. We are also aware that similar developments are ongoing in Edo Central and North Senatorial Districts. Okpebholo is in a hurry to change the face of Edo state.
We are aware of how the near comatose Ambrose Alli University was revived by the present administration. The University is bubbling once again. Many academic courses have been accredited due to Mr Governor’s unwavering support.
I will use this auspicious moment to kindly appeal to Governor Okpebholo to, as a matter of importance, extend his passion for Institutional revival to the State Colleges of Education.
The College infrastructure and Personnel deserve a drastic overhaul. Above all, the approved Akpata University of Education that was subsumed by the Obaseki-led administration should be exhumed by his Excellency.
It is absolutely paradoxical and amazing to see that an Institution created by Law is missing. Yes, it is absolutely true that the unprecedented incident was orchestrated by the Obaseki-led administration. We are appealing to you, sir, to revert to status quo.
Now that there’s a Federal College of Education at Ekiadolor, Mr Governor can use his discretion to relocate the University to anywhere else in Edo South Senatorial District.
Again, I want to draw Mr Governor’s attention to some critical infrastructure deficit in some parts of the State. The State Capital infrastructure is under undue pressure owing to growing population. There are fast growing areas around Benin metropolis. These areas need infrastructure now and not the future. The areas need Drainage and Roads. Edo State is according to experts, the fourth fastest growing State in the Federation. It is absolutely a pragmatic and proactive measures, that will enable us get there.
This Writer briefly will like to mention that the Oshiomhole-constructed lanes attached to Benin -Lagos Roads is wearing off, in some parts. The first East Cicurlar and third East Circular Road deserve upgrades. Of course, please, don’t ignore the rural Roads. They connect our common people to the rising world.
