‎Crystal Palace carved their name into European football history Wednesday night with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Conference League final at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany.
‎In a tense and competitive encounter from start to finish, the Eagles showed  discipline, composure, and maturity on one of the biggest nights in the club’s history.
‎The breakthrough for their efforts however came five minutes into the second half when Jean-Philippe Mateta scored after reacting quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area.
‎The French forward’s line strike was enough to separate both sides in a game where clear chances were limited.
‎Crystal Palace defended resolutely for the remainder of the match, with the backline and goalkeeper Dean Henderson producing a composed performance under pressure.
‎The victory also marked the end of Oliver Glasner’s successful spell at the club during which the Austrian guided the team to the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and now the UEFA Conference League titles.
‎Attention now shifts to the UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, set to take place at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, on May 30, 2026.
‎If Arsenal can overcome the French champions, it would strengthen the argument that English clubs are once again leading the way in European football this season.
‎With Crystal Palace already lifting European silverware, an Arsenal victory would complete another memorable campaign for English football on the continental stage.
