ABUJA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will resume nationwide on May 11, 2026.

According to a statement by the Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the exercise will run from Monday, May 11 to Friday, July 10, marking the third and final phase of the registration process.

The commission explained that the CVR was temporarily suspended on April 17 to enable the clean-up of the voters’ register following its publication for claims and objections.

INEC urged all eligible Nigerians, particularly those who have recently turned 18 or missed earlier phases, to take advantage of the exercise to register.

The electoral body also encouraged already registered voters seeking to update their details to do so through its online portal or by visiting INEC offices at the state and local government levels.

This includes requests for transfer of registration, correction of personal data, or replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

INEC further disclosed that the updated Register of Voters will be displayed for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026, to allow for claims and objections aimed at improving the accuracy and credibility of the register.

The commission assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth exercise and called for active citizen participation.

“We once again appeal to all eligible citizens to present themselves for registration and to play their part in strengthening the foundation of our electoral process,” the statement added
