BENIN CITY – The Social Democratic Party (SDP), Edo State chapter, has conducted its state congress, producing Comrade Imonikhe Kelly Roland-Bello as Chairman, Ambassador Humphrey Erhahon as Deputy Chairman, and Comrade Dominion Osagie Irior as Secretary.

The peaceful congress, held in Benin City, was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including Uduak Umoh, Head of Department, Election and Party Monitoring (EPM), alongside other electoral officers.

In his speech after the exercise, the state chairman, Comrade Imonikhe Kelly Roland-Bello, commended party members for their orderly and peaceful conduct throughout the process, describing it as a demonstration of internal democracy.

He assured the newly elected executives of the party’s readiness to make meaningful impact in forthcoming general elections and called on the electorate to align with the SDP, stressing the party’s commitment to credible leadership and people-oriented governance.

The chairman further used the occasion to congratulate members of the state executive, describing their emergence as both an achievement and a call to greater responsibility.

“Your emergence through congress marks not just a victory, but the beginning of serious responsibility. This is the time to roll up your sleeves and deliver purposeful leadership that will strengthen the party and inspire confidence among members and the public,” he said.

He added that the task ahead requires unity, discipline, and hard work, urging the new leadership to reflect dedication, accountability, and true service to the ideals of the party.

“Let your actions reflect dedication, accountability, and true service to the ideals of the SDP. Once again, congratulations—and now, the real work begins,” he stated.

Also speaking, INEC representative, Uduak Umoh, lauded the maturity displayed by party members and urged them to continue to conduct their activities in strict adherence to electoral guidelines before, during, and after elections.
