Ibom Angels Football Club have joined teeming supporters, associates and stakeholders across the country and beyond, in congratulating Edo Queens on their 2025/2026 NWFL title-winning success.
Edo Queens were crowned champions after a goalless matchday five outing against former champions, Bayelsa Queens on Sunday afternoon.
The result took the Benin Arsenal unassailably to ten points, courtesy of their three wins and one draw in five super-six matches which took place in the garden city of Port Harcourt from June 6 to 14, 2026.
Edo Queens arrived the super-six from second place in Group A of the regular season after amassing thirty-six points, one behind table toppers, Bayelsa Queens.
Speaking in Uyo, Sunday, the chairman of Ibom Angels – Prince Ukeme Ukpong, described the victory as “reward for hard work” and “thoroughly deserving.”
“On behalf of our prestigious club, I heartily congratulate the players, officials, and everyone who’s associated with Edo Queens on winning the league this season.” “They have a talented set of players who have been very determined and resolute throughout the season, and in the end, I honestly do think that they deserve to win the title.”
Mr Ukpong also praised the NWFL board for what he called “exceptional organization” of the league, but noted that there was always room for improvement. While urging the board not to relent in its remarkable efforts at sourcing sponsors and having the league on live television, Prince Ukpong pledged his continuous support for the NWFL.
On his team’s performance, the experienced football administrator and renowned philanthropist cited his side’s league victory over Rivers Angels, the ousting of Bayelsa Queens from the Federation and the league draw away to the now league champions, Edo Queens, as grounds for optimism.
“The work is a continuous one, but given some of the outstanding results we have recorded this year, it is easy to see that we are not very far from where we need to be.”
“I want to advise Edo Queens that while they celebrate, they should watch their backs ahead of next season, because Ibom Angels are coming.” He said.
As additional incentive for winning the title, Edo Queens have now earned the right to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF women’s champions league.
Both Edo Queens and Ibom Angels will now turn their attention to this Thursday’s quarter finals of the Nigeria Federation Cup, with matches against Nasarawa Amazons and Heartland Queens in Anyingba and Aba respectively on the immediate horizon.
