The Chief Executive Officer,Elite Athletes Development and Podium Performance Board of the
National Sport Commission ,Olympian Yussuf Alli,has congratulated Edo Queens Football Club on 2026 NWFL title Triumph.
Edo Queens shared the spoils with defending champions Bayelsa Queens, after  a 0-0 draw and garnered  10 points from five games in the NWFL Super Six tournament to lift the premier league trophy in Portharcourt on Sunday evening.
The Benin based team won three matches, drew one and lost one to finish tops ahead of Bayelsa Queens and others. They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nasarawa Amazons in their opening match and came out stronger in the remaining fixtures with 4-1 thrashing of FC Robo;6-2 thrashing of Abia Angels before going ahead to beat host team Rivers Angels 2-1 in the second, third and fourth engagements.
Edo Queens won the NWFL title for the first time in 2024.The 2026 NWFLSUPER Six triumph n Portharcourt on Sunday made it the second time they have won the league title.
The former Executive Chairman,Edo State Sports Commission in a statement praised the players, coaching crew and the management for their resilience and commitment to bringing honour to the state.
He also congratulated his successor in office Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele over the victory. He commended Enabulele for his courage and unwavering commitment to taking  the Edo state Sports Commission to greater heights.
” This remarkable achievement is a reflection of the club’s dominance and the incredible work  done by the players, technical crew, and management.
” As the former chairman of the Edo state Sports Commission who had the honour of leading Edo Queens to winning the NWFL trophy for the first time in the club’s history,two years ago, I take immense pride and pleasure seeing the team and new management build on that foundation ,and take the club to greater heights. Your dedication, discipline, and team spirit are truly commendable.” Alli said.
” To my successor in office the Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission,Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele, thank you for the good work you are doing. Your unwavering support and strategic direction for Edo Queens and your general contribution,promoting women’s football and sports development in Edo state is well noticed and highly commendable.
” My dear brother, I believe this is just the beginning of success in your administration because it is clear you are on the part of progress. As you have written your name in gold through service and commitment to sports development in our dear state,Edo,I urge you to remain focused and I assure you of my support anytime, any day.” Alli added.

Olympian Yussuf Alli tasked the Edo Sports Commission Chairman and Edo Queens on keeping the Edo Sports legacy to continues.
