The Nigerian Army has urged its personnel to uphold strong family values, saying a stable home front is essential for effective military service.

The Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Godwin Mutkut, gave the charge on Saturday during an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City.

Addressing officers and soldiers after commissioning several infrastructural projects, Mutkut said love, care and respect for family members would enhance discipline, commitment and efficiency in service.

He also conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and commended the troops for their loyalty, resilience, professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty.

The senior officer urged the personnel to remain focused in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities while upholding the core values and ethics of the Nigerian Army.

Mutkut also praised the brigade’s proactive operational posture, noting that it had contributed to improved security and peace across Edo State.

He commissioned a remodelled brigade conference room, a new operations room, a sick bay, an ultra-modern fire point, a quarter guard and a newly constructed brigade mascot and fountain.

The Commander, 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, thanked the Infantry Corps commander for the visit and reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining professionalism and operational excellence.

Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

The visit also featured a tour of facilities at the Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ekehuan, an interactive session with officers and soldiers, and the presentation of souvenirs.
