Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, July 1, canvassed votes from Ora Ward 6 electorates, Ovia South West Local Government Area, stating that the July 11, local government election is a test-run for the 2027 national election.

Idahosa who made above declaration when he led the All Progressives Congress (APC) entourage to Ora Community to canvas for votes ahead the upcoming local government election, told party faithfuls to make sure that they vote enmasse for the party candidates and make sure that such votes do not deplete during the national election where such votes should be made to count in the election of candidates into the Nigerian Senate, House of representatives and for the Presidency.

Idahosa while addressing the crowd of leaders and party faithfuls announced, “We want to show capacity. The votes that we pull out at this local government election should be maintained for the presidential election.”

He solicited for bloc votes, insisting, “That is why everybody should come out on the 11th of this month.”

He pointed to the new health centre in Ora community as a dividend of democracy even as he declared that the health facility was a springboard for the siting of more developmental projects.

He called on the electorates to vote into office presented APC candidates to increase the number of indigenes in elective positions to boost collective abilities to attract projects to the local government.

Highpoint of the campaign was the reception of decamped People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members into the APC fold. These were led by Mr. Alfred Agbonze.

The APC Local Government Area Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbomo who presented the APC flagbearers to the electorates, encouraged the turnup of voters on election day. He also urged them to take cognisance of the APC emblem/logo as they cast their votes.

The Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof Ikponmwosa Omorodion stated that the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration was working, assuring the masses that if the presented candidates got voted into office, an impact would be made in locals lives with the attraction of projects/dualization of roads by government while Edo State House of Assembly Member, Hon. Sunday Aghedo told the electorates to vote into power the two female councillorship candidates to bring power closer to the doorstep of the common people.
