Nigeria’s Day 3 action at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow Scotland started on a disappointing note as Khadijat Ajisola bowed out of Women boxing.
She lost 3-2 on points in a closely contested round 32 54kg bout against Wales’ Helen Jones earlier today in Glasgow.
Afternoon session will see Nigeria’s men’s 3X3 basketball team face Scotland in a group matchup while Ruth Nyon will represent the country in the 48kg class of women’s weightlifting.
The men’s 3X3 basketball Tigers will return to the court later in the evening to face Guyana in another preliminary tie.
Weightlifting comes up again with Agboro Favour competing in the men’s final of the 65kg class.
To round off Team Nigeria’s outing today, the country’s women 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball team will return to the court to face Wales in a Group A matchup.
The Nigerian ladies had slumped 1-15 to hosts Scotland in their group opener yesterday.
Also yesterday, swimmers Abduljabar Adama, Clinton Ebute and Collin Ebingha failed to progress to the finals of their various events while boxer David AKintola lost in the round of 32 of the men’s 54kg bout.
Team Nigeria have won 3 gold and three silver so far in the championship to occupy third position in the medal standings.
