Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has rewarded academic excellence with a N1 million cash gift to Delight Amayaenvbo, an Edo student who recorded straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The outstanding academic performance attracted the attention of the deputy governor, who described Delight’s achievement as a testament to hard work, discipline and determination.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor commended the student for making his family and Edo State proud, stressing the need to encourage and celebrate academic excellence among young people.

He said the gesture was intended not only to reward Delight’s exceptional performance but also to inspire other Edo youths to take their education seriously and strive for excellence.

Idahosa urged students across the state to remain focused on their studies, noting that academic excellence could open doors to greater opportunities and contribute to the development of the state.

Delight’s father, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, expressed deep appreciation to the deputy governor for the gesture, describing it as a significant encouragement to his son and the entire family.

He thanked Idahosa for recognizing his son’s achievement and prayed that the gesture would inspire more young people to pursue academic excellence.

The recognition, according to the deputy governor’s office, underscores the commitment of the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration to youth development, education and the promotion of excellence among Edo youths.
