BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the deployment of two newly sworn-in commissioners and the redeployment of three members of the State Executive Council in a move aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing efficiency and improving service delivery.
The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, announced the changes in a Government Special Announcement, noting that they take immediate effect.
Under the new arrangement, Mr. Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery has been assigned to the Ministry of Mining, while Mr. Martin Anayochukwu Oli will head the newly created Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations.
According to the state government, the Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations was established to promote inter-ethnic and inter-community harmony, strengthen peaceful coexistence and harness the diversity of Edo citizens as an asset for the development and unity of the state.
The governor also approved the redeployment of three commissioners as part of efforts to better align responsibilities with their respective skills, experience and competencies.
Mr. Ohimai Ehijimetor, formerly Commissioner for Communications, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Livestock Development, while Prof. Omorodion Ikponmwosa moves from the Ministry of Livestock Development to the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
Similarly, Mr. Andrew Momodu, formerly Commissioner for Oil and Gas, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Communications.
The affected commissioners have been directed to ensure a seamless handover and assumption of duties in their respective ministries.
The state government said the changes were part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve efficiency and service delivery across Edo State.
Okpebholo charged members of the State Executive Council to bring renewed vigour, professionalism and commitment to their respective assignments.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering efficient, responsive and people-centred governance to the people of Edo State.
