Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on the people of the State to continue praying and supporting the programmes of his administration to enable his administration to deliver the dividends of democracy.
The governor made the call while delivering his speech at the New Festival Hall in Government House, Benin City venue for the prayer programme with
the theme:”The Teaching and the Impact of the Lord prayer in Edo State”.
Governor Monday Okpebholo was represented by his Commissioner for Finance, Engr Emmanuel Okoebor said the very many achievements and successes recorded in various areas were as a result of the support and prayers from citizens of Edo State.
Okpebholo described the gains of the Teaching and the Impact of the Lord’s prayer as fundamental and a needed ingredient to motivate his administration to achieve more for its people.
“The Lord’s prayers are much more than just a prayer in the society; it is a model for how we are expected to live, lead and serve”.
He noted that the Lord’s prayers teach the people on how to accept God by seeking his will while asking for guidance and protection.
“For those of us entrusted with public responsibility these lessons are particularly important as Governance requires wisdom, humility ,discipline and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.
“Payer reminds us of why we make plans and improve policies, we must always seek God’s guidance and remain conscious of the people we are meant to serve
“As a government we realize that development is not only about roads, infrastructure and economic growth as it also involves improving the quality of lives of our people, creating opportunities for our youths, strengthening education and healthcare, protecting lives and properties and making sure that the resources of our state are properly managed”.
The Chaplain Government House Chapel who is also the Special Adviser to Gov. Okpebholo on religious matters, Apostle Sule Faraday Azekhumen, said the theme of the programme:”The Teaching and the Impact of the Lord’s prayer in Edo State”, is apt as they are reason to pray more for sustainability, integrity and continuous progress.
“Praying for our daily bread is for the economy, food, jobs, healthcare and infrastructure as it causes us to be productive, responsible and compassionate”.
Apostle Faraday, noted that a free medical outreach was integrated into a state prayer and empowerment program, featuring health screenings coordinated by the Government House medical center. coordinated by Dr. Solomon Aiguobasimwin, the Medical Director of the center.
