Reigning Champions of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL, Edo Queens FC will take on USFA FC of Burkina Faso on Wednesday, September 2nd in the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The match is scheduled to hold at Stade 4AOUT Stadium Ouagadougou Burkina Faso. Kickoff time is 4pm.
Edo Queens secured qualification to this stage after recording a comprehensive 7-0 thrashing of AS Garde Nationale of Niger Republic and 3-1 beating of Asec Mimosas 3-1in their first and second group B matches.
The Benin based team fell to Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC of Ghana 2-1 on Sunday evening at the Stade Municipal 4AOUT Stadium in the last Group B game of the Qualifiers.
With that defeat, Ampem Darkoa now finished top in Group B with 9 points while Edo Queens are second with 6 points. Both teams are in the semi final stage.
Despite the slim defeat, the Benin girls remain the highest goal scoring side in the WAFU- B tournament .
The coach Kennedy Boboye- led girls will be counting on the brilliance and attacking prowess of Chioma Moses and…as they are expected to put in their all as they tackle USFA FC of Burkina Faso in a game that has be described by football pundits as battle royale.
At the end of tomorrow’s semifinals ,two teams that qualify will advance to the finals and a step closer to qualifying for the CAF Women’s Champions League proper.
Speaking ahead of the clash,Edo Queens interim handler Coach Kennedy Boboye said that the girls have put the last group B match loss behind them and are ready to fight for what they want in Burkina Faso.
He said that they are mentally ready and positive ahead of the game.
According to him, irrespective of the home fans’ support their opponents are going to enjoy, the Nigeria girls are physically, mentally and psychologically ready to give them a run for their money.
