Supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have called for the dismissal of head coach Salisu Yusuf following the club’s disappointing start to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The call for Yusuf’s exit came after seven matches, with sections of the club’s supporters expressing their frustration over the team’s position on the league table.
In a short video made available to BSN Sports, the supporters were heard demanding a change in the technical crew and calling for the return of former head coach Nurudeen Aweroro.
Aweroro was relieved of his position before the commencement of the current campaign, despite guiding 3SC to a third-place finish in the 2025/26 NPFL season.
The supporters’ reaction comes amid a sharp decline in the club’s league standing compared with the corresponding stage of last season.
After Matchday 7 of the 2025/26 campaign under Nurudeen Aweroro, 3SC had accumulated 11 points and occupied fifth position on the NPFL table.
This season, however, the Oluyole Warriors have managed just seven points after Matchday 7, leaving them in 17th position (though,3SChave one outstanding match).
The figures represent a four-point drop in 3SC’s tally and a 12-place decline in their league position compared with the corresponding stage of the previous campaign.
The contrast has heightened concerns among the club’s supporters, who are now questioning the direction of the team under Yusuf.
For some fans, the calls for Aweroro’s return are influenced by the former coach’s achievement last season, when he guided the Ibadan-based club to a third-place finish and a strong challenge near the top end of the table.
With the 2026/27 season still in its early stages, Yusuf will now come under increasing pressure to turn the club’s fortunes around and restore confidence among the supporters.
The coming matches could prove crucial for both the coach and 3SC as the Oluyole Warriors look to climb away from the lower reaches of the NPFL table.
