BENIN CITY — The Edo State Government has terminated the appointment of Aigbodion Ewanifo Smart as Acting Managing Director of New Edo Line Ltd. over alleged managerial inefficiency.
The government has also appointed Engr. Paul F. Ogedegbe as the new Managing Director of the state-owned transport company.
The decisions were announced in a government special announcement dated October 18, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.
According to the announcement, Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the termination of Smart’s appointment on grounds of managerial inefficiency and the appointment of Ogedegbe as his successor.
The government stated that both directives took immediate effect.
