BENIN CITY – The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Yekini Idaiye, has congratulated Nigerians, particularly the people of Edo State, on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, reaffirming his commitment to the development of the state.

Rt.Hon.Idaiye, in a goodwill message released by his Special Adviser on Media, Victor Adefemi, on behalf of the Edo State House of Assembly, his family and himself, described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the nation’s history, marking the end of colonial rule and the beginning of self-governance.

The Speaker noted that although Nigeria, like other nations, had continued to grapple with various challenges, the Independence Anniversary provided an opportunity for reflection on the state of governance and the need to improve the living conditions of the people.

Rt.Hon.Idaiye expressed confidence in the security initiatives of Governor Monday Okpebholo, saying he believed that insecurity would soon become a thing of the past in the state.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Edo State House of Assembly to working with the governor to achieve the objectives of his SHINE Agenda, stressing that the legislature would continue to support policies and programmes aimed at advancing the development of the state.

The Speaker further expressed optimism about the future of Edo State, pledging to contribute his quota, in his capacity as the presiding officer of the legislature, towards the realisation of the Edo Project.

He urged the people to remain hopeful and committed to the collective aspirations of the state and the nation, notwithstanding the challenges confronting them.

Rt.Hon.Idaiye congratulated Edo people and Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary, praying for the continued peace, unity and development of Edo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
