…the winning goals were the work of Martin Odegaard with a double and Gabriel Jesus, while Noni Madueke discounted for Chelsea.

ARSENAL won the London bragging rights on Tuesday night after convincingly beating Chelsea 3-1 at the Emirates, and have reclaimed top spot off Manchester City.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard scored a first-half brace as Arsenal cruised to victory over Chelsea to keep their Premier League title hopes alive, Eurosport reports.
With an avalanche of Arsenal pressure in the first half, the Gunners could have been more than the three goals to the good they were at the break.
The first two came from Granit Xhaka passes from the left which found Odegaard in the area with one finish in off the crossbar and the other inside the bottom right corner.
Hapless Chelsea defending allowed Gabriel Jesus to squeeze a third inside the near post before the break and further humiliation seemed likely for the Blues.
Instead, after withstanding some early pressure, they performed fairly creditably after the break, with Noni Madueke reducing the arrears midway through the half, though there was never any belief the visitors would get back into the game.
The win puts Arsenal two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, having played two games more.
Chelsea have now lost their last six games in a row in all competitions.
The player of the match, Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard – The midfielder’s two fantastic strikes decided the game but even without these, his performance shone brightest. After the drubbing at the Etihad, it would have been understanding if Arsenal lost some of their zest but Odegaard and his wingman Bakary Saka ensured this was not the case, pushing their beleaguered opponents on the back foot from the start.
Martin Odegaard speaks to Sky Sports; “Especially the first half was brilliant. We showed a different spirit, a different team to last time.

“The second half was a bit messy but three points and a good win. We needed this one. Everyone was so hurt after the (City) game that we used the anger and disappointment to get into this game.

“We really bounced back and we did that, especially in the first half. You can lose games but the way we lost [against City] we didn’t play our game, we weren’t ourselves. That’s the most painful and that’s what we wanted to show today.

“We have to fight and keep going. We believe until the end, we will fight until the end, that’s what we are going to do.”
