The need for government at all levels in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the country to rise up against the growing trend of extreme cases of perversion and indecent conduct common amongst youths often times leading to complete erosion of moral values and principles can not be overemphasised.
It is no longer news to see, read or hear different interest groups clamouring for its fundamentsl rights as members to freely express their sexuality and desire with members of the same gender in such groups .
Regrettably, this action by these interest groups, however, has also attracted nationwide condemnation and backlash as stakeholders, parents and guardians have called on government to strictly enforce every provisions as contained in the Same-sex prohibition act 2014 in order to deter youths from wrecklessly indulging in such evil and vile practice in the Nigerian society.
Similarly, governments have also been told to also go after offenders who violated relevant provisions of the law as others in their seperate contributions advocated for an urgent review of the law by way of amendment to proffer stiffer punitive measures that would include death sentences for any suspected individual upon conviction.
However, media reports have been rife with stories of individuals who unlawfully engaged in the act by breaching the provisions of the law and eventually escaped with impunity to avoid years of imprisonment.
Recently in Edo State, it will be recalled how one John Etinosa Lucky who was born on November 28th 1999 narrowly escaped being lynched to death by irate youths in his community when he was caught in the act of sodomy with his partner, Kelvin, another male by a neigbhour.
As angry neighbours in the community in an interview expressed their displeasure in the involvement of the duo of John Etinosa Lucky and Kelvin in the sacrilegious act, others who were still in shock said it was really disgraceful how John Etinosa Lucky had brought ignominy upon his family after he managed to escape from the mamoth crowd who unleashed anger on them before Kelvin was eventually handed over to the police.
However, it was unanimously agreed by concerned individuals mainly youths in different communities in Edo State through a consensus that henceforth they would collaborate with the police, local vigilante network in the state and security agencies to go after anyone involved in such disgraful acts of sodomy in the State in order to make sure they are apprehended and handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution .
Meanwhile, recent findings in the community however revealed that John Etinosa Lucky who was a former boarding house student of Word of Faith Group of Schools in Benin City had absconded from the community in order to evade arrest and prosecution while his partner Kelvin is being further investigated ahead of his prosecution
