…says Gov. Oborevwori focuses on enhanced peace, security to boost investors’ inflow

Within the last one year of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, Delta State government, the state Command of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies have recorded progress in the area of enhanced security by flushing out a reasonable number of criminal elements from Asaba, the state capital, and across the state.

Director-General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed this during a radio interview on Tuesday, saying that the government will continue to provide the necessary support to the police and other security agencies, so as to further enhance their operational capabilities.

He said local vigilantes and hunters operations within their localities and communities have been activated across the 25 local government areas of the state, to effectively complement conventional security operatives, while assuring farmers and the travelling public that the state governor will continue to give attention to a safe and secured Delta.

Dr Oghenesivbe stated that Delta State is not listed, and will not be listed as one of the red zones of banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria, pointing out that apart from few reported cases of security breaches in some communities, and occasionally along the East West Road, Delta State remains one of the safest states for investment in Nigeria.

He therefore appealed to members of the opposition political parties and their proxies in the social media space to desist from raising false alarm over nonexistent security breaches, as can be seen from alleged cases of rapid kidnapping in some communities, and along the East West Road without disclosing the identities of victims.
