In another Round of 16 encounter, Italy, the defending champions, suffered elimination from Euro 2024 on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Switzerland in their Round of 16 match in Berlin.
Murat Yakin’s meticulously prepared team outplayed the previously dominant two-time champions in Berlin and will now meet either England or Slovakia in the subsequent round.
Switzerland also ended an 11-match winless streak against Italy dating back to 1993.
