The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has encouraged those who participated in the last Continuous Voter Registration exercise organized by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and those who have not collected their PVCs to go for collection.
This comes as INEC began the distribution of PVCs in Edo on Thursday (yesterday).
The Deputy Director General, Media and Publicity, Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Rev. Olu Martins, gave the advice in a press statement he personally signed and made available to journalists Benin City, Edo State capital.
“As we gradually approach Edo State 2024 Governorship Election Day, it is important that we stay vigilant and focused seeing that the All Progressives Congress (APC) have no other strategy of campaign outside of lies and chicanery,” Martins said.
“As we all know, the election umpire Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Thursday 22nd August to Monday 26th August for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for those who participated in the last continuous voter registration organized by INEC,” he said.
While emphasizing that the PVC collection would take place at the Ward Collation Centres of INEC at the eighteen (18) Local Government Areas of their offices, the DDG Media and Publicity, Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, said the active collection of PVCs and collaboration is the tool to checkmate attempts by fraudulent people to discredit the electoral process.
