A total of 379,245 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) representing 14.43% of the total registered voters in Edo State remain uncollected ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for Saturday, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement released on Tuesday, INEC stated that the total number of registered voters in Edo State stands at 2,629,025. The electoral umpire provided further analysis, breaking down the voter statistics by gender, age, occupation, and disability.
Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced that data on PVC collection by polling unit has been made available.
“Out of the total registered voters, 2,249,780, or 85.57%, have collected their PVCs, while 379,245 (14.43%) remain uncollected as of the close of the extended collection period on Sunday, 16th September 2024,” Olumekun said.
With 4,519 polling units in the state, voting will take place across all units. The commission has uploaded detailed information on the number of collected and uncollected PVCs per polling unit on its website, providing guidance for political parties, candidates, and the public.
