Yenagoa – Paramount ruler of Abuwari in Opokuma Clan in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area (KOLGA) of Bayelsa State, HRH Chief Richard Boleigha (Abu XII), has described member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma – Opokuma Federal Constituency, Hon. Oforji Oboku, as a blessing to KOLGA due to his benevolence and quality representation in the National Assembly.
Monarch Boleigha, who gave the description during a talk with New Waves in his palace in Abuwari, said the lawmaker displayed an uncommon fear by impacting positively on communities within KOLGA, noting that it has brought succour to the people of the area.
According to him, it was the first of its kind that a serving member of the House of Representatives brought free medical outreach to the grassroots, recalling the impactful medical outreach carried out by the lawmaker recently in Kaiama, headquarters of KOLGA.
“Those who do not have money to do an operation got theirs free during the medical outreach programme. Ordinarily, payment for operations is not less than N200,000 to N300,000 and he was able to do it free for them. This is no ordinary feat,” the Abuwari monarch stated.
The lawmaker also made payments of West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for students of the communities in KOLGA, noting that the gesture helped parents who could not afford to pay the examination fees for their children and wards.
He said, in addition, Hon. Oforji distributed brand new transformers to several communities, both in Opokuma Kingdom and Kolokuma, of which Abuwari was a major beneficiary.
“Everyone knows that transformers are costly and he was able to bring them to our door posts. Apart from us (Abuwari), Gbaranma, Odi, Kaiama were amongst others who benefitted.
“I urge other politicians, who are our representatives at various levels, to come back to the rural areas and do the needful because voting them into power does not end with them staying only in the cities but for them to consider the rural areas too.”
Chief Boleigha also called on political leaders from the LGA to emulate the feat of the federal lawmaker for his wonderful contributions and performance without party affiliation.
He used the opportunity to wish Hon. Oforji Oboku happy 47th birthday celebrations, praying for him, his family and friends.
