BENIN CITY – The Managing Director, Edo Geographic Information Service, (EDOGIS) Dr.Tony Ikpasaja has been commended for the giant strides taken to Improve on the service delivery capacity of the Agency in land administration and other sundry issues in land development within the State.

A team of journalists led by the Chairman of the Correspondents chapel Patrick Ochoga made this commendation during a courtesy visit to the managing director of the agency.

They particularly commended the extension of the Agency’s services to the grassroots weeks after Dr Ikpasaja assumed office as Managing Director. 

Recall that recently EDOGIS extended its services to other Senatorial Districts of the State following the recent opening of its two new offices in  Ekpoma in  Edo Central and Auchi  in Edo North . 

The new Managing Director of EDOGIS, Dr. Ikpasaja, explained why the new offices were created in Edo North and Central Senatorial Districts to ease the operations of the Agency in other parts of the State and also to bring the services of the Agency closer to the people at the grassroots  

He  further said that the creation of the new offices was done in line with the vision and objectives of Governor Monday Okpebholo, who has vowed to  permanently lay to rest the  interminable issues of land grabbing and encroachment on Government Lands. 

He added that each of the offices in both Senatorial Districts is adequately equipped with State-of-the-art equipment and manned by well trained personnel to provide accurate and detailed information and reports relating to Land Use Charge and land administration within the districts generally.

Speaking further,  the MD noted that with the creation of the new offices outside Benin City, local residents, prospective land developers and land owners within the region would have the rare opportunity to access the agency’s services and have every land-based issues permanently resolved within their domain.

The newly created offices in Ekpoma in Edo Central is located within the Esan West Local Government Secretariat along the Benin-Auchi Road while that in Auchi is located inside the Etsako West Local Government Secretariat.

Earlier, Mr.Patrick Ochoga, State Chairman of the Edo State Correspondents Chapel, Nigerian Union of Journalists had commended the MD, EDOGIS for introducing new strategies in enhancing effective service delivery in land administration and development few weeks after resumption following the creation of new offices in Edo North and Central Senatorial Districts. 

He added that the success recorded within his short spell in office as the MD EdoGIS following his recent appointment was a clear testament to the conviction of the Governor that  even as a Journalist his appointment was not misplaced but well thought out.
