Amid a wave of deadly Boko Haram attacks, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has landed in Maiduguri, Borno State.
His visit on Thursday comes as insurgent activities escalate, claiming the lives of both civilians and soldiers in recent weeks.
General Musa is expected to meet with military top brass, frontline troops, and key stakeholders to assess the security situation and strengthen counterinsurgency efforts.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, linked the renewed insurgency to the worsening instability across the Sahel, warning that arms are flowing into Nigeria through porous borders.
