The Edo State Government has called for patience from citizens as it intensifies efforts to improve infrastructure and living conditions across the state.
In a statement issued in Benin City, the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, said the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration is aware of the numerous challenges facing the state, including the deplorable state of roads in parts of Benin City.
He emphasized that although the administration is just six months in office, it has already commenced a series of strategic interventions aimed at addressing these issues, particularly in rehabilitating bad roads and providing essential amenities to enhance the well-being of the people.
According to Hon. Ohonbamu, Governor Okpebholo remains committed to his promise of constructing roads of the same standard as those in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. He expressed the Governor’s appreciation to Edo people for electing a leader who is passionate about their welfare and determined to deliver on his mandate.
The Governor recently inspected several ongoing road projects in Edo Central, including the Effandion–Uromi Road, Atani–Uromi Road, Uromi–Ubiaja Road, Utako–Uromi Road, and the 36-kilometre Uromi Technical College Road, all of which include drainage systems. During the inspection, the Governor assured that by the end of his tenure, Edo State would be in a far better condition than he met it.
Commissioner Ohonbamu highlighted that the Governor’s development agenda is transforming the state into a construction hub, with massive projects visibly underway in various communities. He noted that the Ramat Park flyover in Benin City and other key road projects will enhance commercial activities and open up communities for business opportunities.
In addition, the Governor visited Udomi, where he inspected the completed Udomi Primary School and the newly constructed underground drainage system.
While acknowledging that it is not possible to address all the state’s challenges at once, Hon. Ohonbamu appealed to residents to remain patient and supportive, assuring them that Governor Okpebholo is fully aware of the issues and is working diligently to resolve them.
The government reiterated its commitment to progress, stating that both Governor Okpebholo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are passionate about improving the lives of Nigerians, with visible efforts being made in Edo State.
