The Edo State Government has directed all newly recruited members of the Edo State Security Corps to report for training at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Okada no later than Monday, May 26, 2025.
This directive was issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, in a statement released in Benin City.
According to the statement, the recruits were initially scheduled to begin reporting at the NYSC Camp on Thursday, May 22, but all are now expected to be in camp by the close of day on Monday.
“Anyone not in the NYSC Camp, Okada, by Monday, May 26, 2025, will not be allowed to join the training,” Ohonbamu stated.
The training exercise forms part of the state’s broader efforts to strengthen its grassroots security framework and ensure better coordination in the fight against criminal activities, including cultism, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
The Edo State Security Corps, launched as a community-based response to insecurity, is expected to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies in maintaining law and order across the state.
Government officials have urged the recruits to adhere strictly to the reporting deadline, warning that non-compliance will result in disqualification from the training programme.
